Founded in 1978 and originating from a
school of Beijing Institute of Iron & Steel, Shougang Institute of
Technology(SGIT) is an engineering college officially approved and
authorized by the Ministry of Education. Before 1999, SGIT mainly
focused on the education of undergraduates with six bachelor degrees
–the Degree of Machinery Design & Manufacture, the Degree of
Metallurgy of Iron and Steel, the Degree of Metal Working, the Degree of
Industrial Automation, the Degree of Constructional Engineering and the
Degree of Trade and Industry. Since 1999, with the higher vocational
education developing vigorously in China, SGIT has set up a distinctive
educational target to cultivate more practical talents and started
organizing higher vocational education system.
